Pages are generally reserved for more static content and information, i.e. the About Us page or Contact page. You can designate “Parent” pages and thus create groups of pages and sub-pages. Although pages can have a hierarchy, they cannot be categorized or tagged like posts.
Posts are blog entries, a series of articles that are usually listed in reverse chronological order. These are generally news or informational updates. They can be tagged, categorized, and even archived on your site. Posts make up the RSS content of your blog.
Editing Posts
After clicking on the Posts menu option, you’ll see a list of your site’s posts. Hover your cursor over each row, and a few links will appear beneath each Post title:
- Edit – allows you to edit your Post (same as clicking on the post title)
- Quick Edit – allows you to edit basic Post information (such as Title, Slug, Date, Author, Categories, Tags, and more)
- Trash – sends the Post to the Trash (post will be deleted once the Trash is emptied)
- View – displays the Post (before the post is published, this will say Preview)
Next to each Post title is a checkbox, allowing you to perform an action on multiple items at once, like Edit or Move to Trash.
